Otis and Louie have nurtured local made product since the day the shop opened for business. We developed our first relationship with Harrington's and produced for the first time local grown and processed organic farmed pork bones that are smoked and vacuum packed. I created the "smile factor" label when I heard about the opening of the Otis and Louie shop in Northland, Wellington. A friend of mine, who knew I had been knitting dog coats suggested I approach Annileis to sell my coats. Up to that point they had simply been a pleasure for me and those who saw them. Growing up in rural New Zealand the concept of dressing dogs was foreign and amusing. More.....

The "be seen" range of dog accessories has developed from my involvement with "smile factor". My brother, who drives trucks, half jokingly asked me when I was going to make high visibility vests for dogs after nearly hitting a dog and it's owner that were out running in poor light. I then heard of a vet whose dog had been killed by a vehicle while they were out running and of a woman who had spent $2,000 on the treatment of her dog's broken leg after a similar accident.
